Jemeluk Bay is one of Amed’s most popular and easiest dive sites, well known for its calm conditions and simple shore access. The dive begins on a gently sloping reef just off the beach, with depths starting shallow and gradually descending to around 18–25 meters, depending on how far you explore into the bay. This gradual profile makes Jemeluk Bay suitable for relaxed dives and longer bottom times.
As you move away from shore, the seabed alternates between sandy patches and coral gardens, with hard and soft corals, sponges, and sea fans covering much of the reef. One of the defining features of Jemeluk Bay is its artificial reef structures and underwater statues, which were placed here as part of local reef enhancement and restoration efforts. These include human shaped statues, circular concrete frames, and reef modules arranged across sections of the sandy slope. Over time, these structures have become natural extensions of the reef, now covered with coral growth, sponges, and other encrusting organisms.
The bay’s natural shape helps shelter the site from strong currents, creating generally calm and stable conditions. Toward the outer edges of the bay, the slope begins to steepen, offering a gradual transition toward deeper water and hinting at the more topography found nearby. Despite its popularity, Jemeluk Bay often feels spacious underwater, allowing divers to explore different sections of the reef at an easy pace.
