Lipah Bay is a popular shore dive in Amed with easy access from the beach and a clear reef slope that suits divers of all levels. The entry is gentle, and you quickly reach a mix of sandy patches and coral formations that extend along the bay.
Near the shallow sections, you’ll often see Green Sea Turtles grazing on algae and small reef fish like Butterflyfish, Parrotfish, and Fusiliers moving around the coral. The reef structure includes coral bommies and rocky outcrops, which create natural areas to explore at your own pace. Between 5 and 18 meters, divers can explore a vibrant underwater landscape filled with massive corals and gorgonian corals. This area also serves as a nursery for Reef Sharks, providing a safe haven for these magnificent creatures during their early stages of life. Amidst this thriving ecosystem, divers can encounter a wide variety of tropical fish, adding a splash of color to the dive.
As you follow the slope deeper, the reef becomes more defined. Hard corals, soft corals, and sponges host a variety of life. You may spot Moray Eels in crevices, Lionfish perched on ledges, and a range of small invertebrates. Macro life such as Nudibranchs, Shrimp, and Crabs can be found if you take time to look closely. Schools of fish and occasional larger species like Jacks move through the blue water beyond the reef edge.
