Just a short shore entry from Amed’s coastline, Ghost Bay is one of the area’s standout muck and macro dive sites, a seemingly simple sandy slope that reveals an incredible world when you look closely. The dive usually ranges from about 5 to 20–25 meters, with a mostly flat black sand bottom that gradually slopes deeper.
As you begin your descent, the open sandy terrain may look quiet at first, but the site’s artificial reef elements, debris, and scattered rubble quickly become points of interest. These structures have become part of the underwater landscape and now provide nooks, ledges, and crevices that attract a variety of small creatures.
Ghost Bay is especially known for its macro diversity, with sightings often including ghost pipefish, mimic octopus, nudibranchs, and other unusual critters that thrive in the sand and around the man made structures. Because the site is primarily flat and composed of sand with intermittent rocky or artificial features, it encourages slow, focused dives where spotting tiny organisms is the real reward.
