Just beyond the popular Drop Off Wall and Emerald sites lies Alamanda, a quieter boat access dive that stretches along a sloping volcanic reef. A short ride from Tulamben in a traditional jukung gets you here, where the dive begins on a gently sloping reef that quickly reveals a mix of coral formations and rocky outcrops as you go deeper.
As you descend, the reef opens up into a varied underwater landscape shaped by the region’s volcanic origins. Reef slopes, coral bommies, and rocky formations are covered with a mix of hard and soft corals, sea fans, and sponges that create texture and color across the seabed. The coral cover here is healthy and robust, offering a more pristine and intact reef system compared with some of the busier sites closer to shore.
