Emerald

Tulamben
Coral Garden, Artificial Reef
Boat Dive
Beginner, Advanced, Pro
12-30 meters

Just a short boat ride from Tulamben’s shore, Emerald, also known locally as Embral, is a slightly hidden gem. The dive begins from a traditional jukung boat, with the entry around 12 meters, and follows a gently sloping reef that stretches down toward deeper sections of the slope.

Along the way, you’ll pass large, well established coral formations, sponges, and expansive sea fans that create a textured and colorful underwater landscape. Because Emerald is less crowded than some nearby sites, the corals are often larger and in excellent condition, including giant elephant ear sponges and layered plating corals. On the sandy parts of the slope, you’ll find artificial structures, such as a sunken car, which over time have become integrated into the reef, adding interesting nooks and ledges to explore.
